Engineered for Carolina Climates
Asphalt paving isn't just about pouring blacktop; it's an engineering process that demands precision. In the Greater Charlotte area, where temperatures fluctuate significantly between summer heat and winter freezes, a poorly installed surface will quickly crack and fail.
At Around Town Paving, led by Jesse Broadway with over 20 years of specialized experience, we approach every paving job with a commitment to structural integrity. We focus heavily on the unseen foundation—proper grading, robust aggregate base installation, and meticulous drainage planning—ensuring the visible surface remains pristine for decades.
Commercial Parking Lot Paving
First impressions matter. A smooth, freshly striped parking lot signals to your customers that you run a professional operation. We handle large-scale commercial paving projects across Mecklenburg, Cabarrus, Rowan, and Iredell counties.
- New Construction: Full site preparation, sub-base installation, and multi-lift asphalt paving for new developments.
- Asphalt Overlays: Cost-effective resurfacing of existing lots when the base is still structurally sound.
- Milling and Replacement: Complete removal of old, failing asphalt and installation of a fresh, durable surface.

Residential Driveway Paving
Your driveway is the welcome mat to your home. We bring commercial-grade equipment and expertise to residential projects, delivering driveways that instantly boost curb appeal and property value. Whether you need a brand new installation or a complete driveway replacement, we ensure a smooth, level finish that withstands daily vehicle traffic.
Our Paving Process
- Site Assessment & Grading: We evaluate the soil composition and grade the area to ensure optimal water runoff. Standing water is the enemy of asphalt.
- Sub-Base Preparation: We install and compact a crushed stone base. The thickness depends on the anticipated load (heavier for commercial truck traffic, standard for residential).
- Binder Course Application: The structural layer of asphalt, containing larger aggregate for strength.
- Surface Course Application: The top layer, featuring finer aggregate for a smooth, attractive finish.
- Compaction: Heavy rollers ensure the asphalt is compressed to the correct density while hot.
